Signing of an International Responsible Business Conduct Agreement (IRBC) for a Responsible Gold Value Chain: Knowing, Showing and Improving The Dutch gold sector is working together to ensure responsible business conduct in the international gold value chain. Today, electronics and jewelry manufacturers, gold recycling companies, civil society organizations and the Dutch government signed the Dutch Agreement on Responsible Business Conduct (IRBC) for the Dutch gold sector. Its aim is to ensure greater respect for human rights, the environment and biodiversity throughout the chain, from mining to recycling. The first draft of the agreement, aimed at combating child labour in Uganda, is currently being prepared. The Gold Sector International Responsible Business Conduct Agreement is the fifth of its kind to be concluded in the Netherlands. Three of these agreements were negotiated under the auspices of the SER. Agreements are under way in the fields of insurance, ornamental plants, natural stone, metallurgy and food. His most famous book, The Four Agreements, was published in 1997 and has sold about 10 million copies in the United States. [9] And has been translated into 46 languages. The book advocates personal freedom from the beliefs and agreements we have made with ourselves and others that create limitations and unhappiness in our lives. [11] The four agreements are as follows: the industry representatives are FGZ NGG, Lucardi (jewellery chain), Bijou Moderne, Peter Bruining and House of Eléonore (resellers and producers), Schöne and Cookson Drijfhout (main suppliers), electronics manufacturers Philips and Fairphone, and recycling companies Sims Recycling Solutions and Closing the Loop.
The civil society organisations involved are Solidaridad, Stop Child Labour, IUCN NL, UNICEF and the TRADE UNION CONFEDERATION FNV. The government is represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Economic and Social Council of the Netherlands (SER) has facilitated the agreement and will monitor compliance with its provisions. Other parties in the gold sector are encouraged to join. The agreement will also set an example for the gold sector in other countries. The Fifth Agreement picks up where the last book left us and takes us to a deeper level of awareness of our power and authenticity.
